During the summer months, work takes me from North Scotland to South Wales, sometimes I’m away from home for weeks at a time. For the past couple of years, I’ve been living from the boot of my car and using a tent for accommodation. Its been a good ride, but it has its limitations. Firstly you need somewhere to pitch the tent, it takes time, and its not always ideal.
During the winter I try to travel for the winter, boarding and climbing as much as I can. A tent isn’t really the most ideal for this, and even less so when I add surfing in to the mix, shifting from location to location following the waves or powder, its just not convenient.
So a change was in order… And last week I went and finally brought my first VW Transporter 4. For those of you who don’t know, this is basically a panel van, as used by builders, plasters and electricians, but makes the ideal shell for a small camper!
And here he is, Tango the Snow Hound! In need of a major clean, both inside and out… And then lots of insulation, lining and a camper fitting in… Before hopefully many many happy miles travelling the lands looking for all the good stuff, snow, waves, bike trails and rock…
