first winter run

Finally this evening I made the push, to get the shoes back on and get out of the door… it was only a short 2 mile run, in the cold winters evening… but a run at least, the first time in about six months…

In the dark winter evenings I love nothing better than splashing through muddy forests and over the moors, but tonight that wasn’t to be, a quick out and back along the back roads of home was all I had time for.

With a clear, crisp sky above, I remembered all the good things about running, the cold powerful burning sensation of the lungs as the freezing air rushes down the throat, the twinkling stars above hinting at a morning frost and the simple, sheer joy of being outside…

With the new urge to push the running, towards the Edinburgh marathon in May, comes a need to drive it forward and find the motivation to get out, when everyone else is wrapping up in blankets, hence I’m starting this blog… with no promises to be here every night, or indeed every run… but hopefully at least once more before spring 😉
